Tottenham secured a much-needed victory over Borussia Dortmund in the Champions League earlier this week. After a disappointing start to the season, their European campaign has acted as a saving grace for the Lilywhites as they look to build on last season’s Europa League success. However, it is clear that the North Londoners still have several glaring issues within their squad, particularly as they continue to struggle in domestic competitions.

Spurs strengthened their midfield earlier in the window by signing Conor Gallagher from Atletico Madrid on a long-term deal. The club acted swiftly to bring in the England international after it was confirmed that Rodrigo Bentancur would miss around three months of action following his injury earlier this month. The same applies to Lucas Bergvall, who is expected to miss three months of action after being forced off against Dortmund in the Champions League. Consequently, signing another midfielder has now become a priority for Spurs.

According to BILD, Spurs are now planning a “transfer attack” to sign Borussia Dortmund midfielder Felix Nmecha in the coming days. The Lilywhites closely monitored his performance against them earlier this week and were impressed by his overall contribution. As a result, they are prepared to make a move for the 25-year-old, who is seen as a long-term solution to the club’s midfield problems under Thomas Frank.

The same report claims that Dortmund would only consider selling the German international midway through the season if Spurs meet their asking price of around £52m. It is also believed that several Premier League clubs are monitoring his situation, given his consistent performances in the Bundesliga this season.

Tottenham are in urgent need of reinforcements this winter as the club continues to navigate an injury crisis under Thomas Frank . The German international is capable of operating in the No.6 role, linking defence and attack with efficiency. His passing range, combined with strong positional awareness, makes him an appealing option in the winter market. At just 25, the midfielder still has his best years ahead of him as he appears increasingly ready to make the switch to the Premier League in the near future.
