The ball has finally started to roll at Tottenham in terms of incoming transfers. After playing catch-up in the transfer market for quite some time, the Lilywhites have finally managed to bring in two of the hottest talents in the Premier League in no time. The North London club has concluded business for the pair in time as Thomas Frank’s men head for pre-season games in a week’s time.
Spurs announced the arrival of Mohammed Kudus after agreeing a deal to sign the West Ham star on a £55m deal. The Ghana international will instantly elevate the quality of the squad going forward, and compete with Brennan Johnson for a spot in the starting eleven. Bringing in the 24-year-old has also proved that Daniel Levy is keen to build on the Europa League success next season.
To everyone’s surprise, the Lilywhites have also managed to scoop Nottingham Forest star Morgan Gibbs-White. As per David Ornstein (via X), Spurs have triggered the £60m release clause in the England international’s contract ahead of a proposed move to N17. The 25-year-old is keen on the move as well, and is scheduled to undergo a medical on Friday (11th July).
Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy is ready to back Thomas Frank in the transfer market by the looks of it. The Spurs chairman quickly authorised a £115m net spend on incoming players that would bolster the quality of the squad going forwards. With the North London club aiming to compete on all four fronts next season, Levy is not expected to back down and the Lilywhites are expected to bring more players in.
It was reported earlier that Spurs were interested in signing Crystal palace star Adam Wharton in the summer. The England international has showed glimpses of his potential time and again, and the Lilywhites did take notice of that. However, the report also stated that the Eagles were not keen on selling him in the summer, and it would take an ‘astronomical price’ to consider a departure.
Well, recent reports now suggest that Tottenham are willing to test the waters for the 21-year-old yet again. As per GB News, Spurs are considering to submit a £60m offer for the Palace midfielder this week. The Lilywhites are keen to bring in a replacement for Yves Bissouma in the summer, and have identified Wharton as the sensible option. The aforementioned report also states that the Eagles are expecting to hold out an asking price of £70m for the player.
There is a clear need for the North London club to upgrade their midfield for next season. Thomas Frank clearly prefers to create chances from the centre, and the Danish tactician relies heavily on his midfielders during build-up play. The Lilywhites currently have Yves Bissouma and Pape Matar Sarr in their ranks to play as the number six next season. But it is clear that both players are not comfortable on the ball and struggle to keep the game moving.
So, bringing in Adam Wharton might just do the trick as the England international will completely elevate the quality of the squad going forward. The 21-year-old has quickly showcased his talents on the big stage. His ability to cover spaces left behind in the midfield, as well as, his passing range are two strong attributes in his game. The Palace star also tends to drop in to receive the ball and create chances from the deep.
