Tottenham Hotspur are readying moves in the summer transfer window as they prepare to fight on all fronts next season.
Spurs will now look to shop for high-quality players after securing Champions League football via Europa League success. Despite a lacklustre Premier League campaign, they ended a 17-year trophy drought with a Europa League triumph over Manchester United.
One of the many reasons why the North Londoners struggled to perform consistently in the Premier League was chronic injury problems. Injuries to first-teamers exposed their lack of quality depth in the squad under Ange Postecoglou, jeopardising Tottenham’s season massively.
With the pressure to compete in the Champions League next season, Daniel Levy knows that he has to get his recruitment spot on. A squad overhaul appears on the cards after a disastrous domestic campaign that saw Tottenham finish 17th in the table. Without or without Ange Postecoglou at the helm, the club has to make some tough decisions on several players. Before bringing in new players, Daniel Levy has to wipe out the surplus from the current squad.
Now, according to a report from ESPN, Spurs are ready to offload Manor Solomon, Bryan Gil and Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg this summer. The trio are not considered part of the club’s plans moving forward and have been advised to find new clubs.
Manor Solomon had a strong season in the Championship, playing a crucial role in Leeds United’s promotion-winning campaign. He netted 10 goals and supplied 12 assists in 39 appearances, including netting the winner that made the Whites 2024/25 Championship winners. Leeds United have shown an interest in signing Solomon permanently but could face competition from Everton.
Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg spent the season on loan at Marseille. He was instrumental in Marseille finishing runners-up to Ligue 1 champions Paris Saint-Germain and subsequently clinching Champions League qualification. The transfer is set to become an obligation for a fee believed to be about £17m.
Meanwhile, Bryan Gil was having a good time back in Spain with Girona before he suffered a season-ending injury in March. He delivered six goal contributions in 25 La Liga appearances, with Girona having the power to activate a €15m release clause before June 30 if they want to. However, they face competition from La Liga rivals Villarreal for the Spanish winger’s signature.
By offloading Solomon, Hojbjerg and Gil, Tottenham could easily generate over €40m and reinvest those funds into fresh talents who’d improve the current squad. Everything now depends on Levy and his negotiations skills, as Spurs look to build a competitive squad that can juggle Champions League adventure with Premier League football.
