Tottenham are considering upping their ante for Fulham striker Rodrigo Muniz

The summer transfer market is heating up, and Tottenham have begun to show clear signs of its intentions. The arrival of Thomas Frank as Ange Postecoglou’s successor at the helm should see the club deep delve into the transfer market and bring in some exciting players to N17.

Spurs chairman Daniel Levy has been backed to throw his weight behind Thomas Frank. Having done a great job at Brentford, the expectations of the Spurs fans will be high from the Danish tactician. But he cannot do miracles without new additions to the squad, and it appears that the Lilywhites want to add a new centre-forward before the new season commences.

With Richarlison failing to keep himself fit for yet another campaign and potentially heading for the exit doors in the summer, along with Son Heung-min, Daniel Levy is aiming to bring in a new striker that could compete with club-record acquisition Dominic Solanke next season and provide a different dynamic to the Spurs attack.

Spurs have shown an interest in signing Fulham striker Rodrigo Muniz of late. They want a centre-forward who is Premier League proven, which makes the Fulham man a perfect fit at the Hotspur Way. Now, there has been an update on the Lilywhites’ hunt for the Brazilian.

According to an exclusive report from GIVEMESPORT, Tottenham are considering whether to win the race for Rodrigo Muniz’s signature as he has remained on Frank’s shortlist of targets. They are planning to make contact with the Cottagers to sign the striker for Frank, who is aiming to make alterations to the squad he inherited from Ange Postecoglou.

Newly-promoted Leeds United have already attempted to sign the South American by tabling a bid worth up to £32million during the early stages of the transfer window, but the offer was rejected. This has opened the door for Spurs to test Fulham’s resolved with an improved offer.

The aforementioned report adds Muniz would be tempted to join Tottenham as they can offer Champions League football next season and help challenge himself at a much higher level. Fulham are keen to tie him down to a new contract but would be will only be tempted into cashing in if an offer which is irresistible comes across their table.

Muniz has had to operate as a back-up to Raul Jimenez, yet delivered eight goals and an assist in 31 Premier League appearances this past term. Despite that, the Cottagers want around £50m for the South American. It is not a realistic price and only a tactic from the West Londoners to try and scare off potential suitors, something Spurs chiefly will be wary of.

It now depends whether Levy actually acts and makes a concrete move for Muniz. Given his physicality, ability to link play and score all kinds of goals, coupled with his top-flight experience, Tottenham must at least test Fulham’s resolve in the coming days. If signed, Muniz could become a quality back-up for Solanke and even establish himself as the starting No.9, provided he impresses Frank.
