Tottenham defender Radu Dragusin reminisces about Romania’s victory over Ukraine in the EURO 2024 on his Instagram account

After a disastrous 2024/25 Premier League season, an overhaul is needed if Tottenham Hotspur are to return to the top six.

Thomas Frank faces a mighty task of restoring the club’s prestige following last term’s struggles and bringing some much-needed stability. The Dane’s excellent work at Brentford has earned him the big ticket at White Hart Lane, and he will be raring to prove himself and make Spurs competitive once again in the Premier League.

The 51-year-old could be set to rid himself of many Tottenham players this summer after several of them underperformed last term. There are some stars who are currently out injured such as James Maddison, Dejan Kulusevski and Radu Dragusin, whose futures at N17 also remain up in the air.

Radu Dragusin has struggled for regular game time at Spurs since joining from Genoa in January 2024. The transfer was viewed as quite a coup at the time as the Lilywhites beat out competition from Bayern Munich. An injury crisis at the back saw the Romanian start regular Premier League games last term.

However, the 23-year-old hasn’t featured for Tottenham since suffering an ACL injury during the 3-0 win against Elfsborg in the Europa League on January 30. The centre-back shared an update on his fitness levels with the fans last month as he continues to put the hard yards to return ahead of the 2025/26 campaign.

On Tuesday, Dragusin shared a memory with his Romanian national team on his socials. Taking to his official Instagram account, he wrote: “One year ago,” reminiscing about Romania’s 3-0 win over Ukraine to kickstart the nation’s European Championship campaign in Germany last term.

Romania had a memorable Euro 2024 tournament. After a win over Ukraine, they drew with Slovakia and tasted defeat to Belgium. Yet, Dragusin and Co. qualified to the last 16, where unfortunately they got knocked out to the Netherlands.

Meanwhile, Dragusin, despite not playing for months now, has not been able to stop speculation surrounding his future at Spurs. He has been heavily linked with a move back to Serie A in recent months, but his agent Florian Manea has poured cold water on all such speculation, suggesting that the defender is fully focused on his recovery and will stay at Tottenham this season.

Frank would want Dragusin to come back fully fit and stronger. A change in the dugout may lead to a change in fortunes for the Romanian international at Spurs, who knows?
