Tottenham tracking 29-year-old in the Club World Cup, agents believe interest is serious

Tottenham Hotspur are interested in the Boca Juniors attacker Miguel Merentiel, and they could look to make a move for him this summer.

According to a report from Fichajes, they are tracking the 29-year-old Uruguayan striker in the Club World Cup, and his representatives believe that the interest from the Premier League club is serious.

It will be interesting to see if Tottenham come forward with an offer to try and sign him. They could use more depth in the attacking unit, and the 29-year-old could be a useful acquisition.

Premier League move could be tempting

Merentiel could be tempted to move to the Premier League, and Tottenham will be an attractive destination for him. This could be his final opportunity to join a top European club, and he could be tempted to make the move.

It will be interesting to see if Boca Juniors are willing to sanction his departure. He has been an important player for them. He has a contract with them until December 2027, and it remains to be seen whether Spurs can negotiate a reasonable deal for him.

Tottenham did well to win the UEFA Europa League last season, but they need to improve their performances in the Premier League. They finished just about the relegation zone, and it is simply unacceptable for a club of their stature. Signing the right players will help them get back on track.

The 29-year-old has the physicality and technical attributes to adapt to English football, and he could share the goalscoring burden with Dominic Solanke next season. Adding more depth to the attacking unit will be one of their priorities this summer. Tottenham looked mediocre last season. They cannot hope to challenge for major trophies with their current attacking options.
