Tottenham Hotspur have been linked with a move for the RB Leipzig attacker Xavi Simons in recent weeks, but they could sign Jacob Ramsey instead.

However, journalist Sebastien Vidal has now revealed that they are ‘very keen’ on signing Jacob Ramsey as an alternative to the Dutch international.

Tottenham to land Jacob Ramsey?

Ramsey has been linked with a move away from Aston Villa this summer, and he could prove to be a quality acquisition for Tottenham. He is versatile enough to operate in multiple roles, and he could prove to be the ideal utility man for the north London outfit.

The journalist claims that Ramsey would cost around £50 million this summer. He has struggled for regular gametime at Aston Villa, and it will be interesting to see if Tottenham are prepared to pay that kind of money for him. They will probably hope to sign him for a more reasonable fee.

Ramsey will look to get his career back on track, and joining one of the biggest clubs in the country will be quite exciting for him. They will be able to offer him UEFA Champions League football next season and provide him with a platform to fight for trophies.

He will look to get his career back on track with ample opportunities. It remains to be seen whether Tottenham are prepared to provide him with game-time assurances.

Ramsey would be a cheaper option

There is no doubt that Simons would also be an excellent acquisition. However, he is likely to cost a lot more compared to the 24-year-old Aston Villa midfielder. Tottenham will hope to negotiate a reasonable fee for the English midfielder, and it remains to be seen how the situation develops.

Tottenham need to improve their squad to fight for trophies next year. They need more versatility and technical ability in the final third. They have been linked with Morgan Gibbs-White from Nottingham Forest as well.
