Trabzonspor have made their stance clear regarding the future of Andre Onana.

The goalkeeper joined the Turkish side on a season-long loan from Manchester United last summer after falling down the pecking order at Old Trafford.

Onana arrived in Manchester in 2023 from Inter Milan, who were the reigning UEFA Champions League runners-up at the time.

A series of inconsistent performances led the club to search for another goalkeeper.

That search resulted in Senne Lammens joining United last summer from Royal Antwerp, and the young goalkeeper has impressed during his time at Old Trafford.

Lammens’ performances have made it increasingly unlikely that the Cameroonian will return to reclaim the No.1 spot.

Meanwhile, Andre Onana’s own situation in Turkey has also been closely monitored.

His loan spell had already faced scrutiny earlier this season after a difficult performance against rivals Fenerbache, which briefly placed his role under pressure.

However, In January there were talks about Andre Onana potentially returning to Inter Milan.

But that has not materialised since.

Now, Trabzonspor’s hierarchy have clarified their position on a potential permanent transfer.

Speaking about the situation, vice-president Zeyyat Kafkas revealed that the club have already communicated their financial limits regarding any deal.

“As the figure from Manchester United for the purchase of Andre Onana is in the range of €45-50m, our president has sincerely informed the community in line with Trabzonspor’s realities.”

According to Manchester Evening News, that valuation equates to roughly £40m-£43m, which the Turkish side currently have no intention of meeting.

Kafkas also suggested that the situation could still evolve depending on future circumstances.

“However, if the conditions change, the situation changes.”

For now, Onana’s long-term future remains uncertain.

The 29-year-old sweeper-keeper is expected to decide his next step during the summer window as discussions around his permanent destination continue.
