The transfer rumour mill is in full swing, and reports in Italy claim that if Inter are unable to secure a deal for Atalanta’s Marco Palestra, then they will have to move on to alternative options, which could end with midfielder Davide Frattesi joining Juventus.
A set of transfer dominos could soon fall in Serie A, beginning with the sale of Inter wing-back Denzel Dumfries to Real Madrid. The Dutchman had a release clause in his contract, which has been activated, and he is expected to join the 15-time Champions League winners in a €20m deal in the near future.
It is no secret that Inter’s top target to replace Dumfries is 21-year-old Italy international Palestra, who impressed while on loan at Cagliari from Atalanta during the 2025-26 season.
Negotiating with Atalanta is not expected to be a straightforward procedure, though. La Dea are under no pressure to sell given that they are set to sell midfielder Ederson to Manchester United in a profitable €45m deal.
According to recent reports, Atalanta will seek a fee in excess of €50m for Palestra this summer, potentially as high as €55m, while Inter are rumoured to be considering a bid in the region of €45m.
There have also been reports on Tuesday that if Inter are unable to land a deal for Palestra this summer, then they could instead make a move for Juventus’s Andrea Cambiaso.
And, if Inter do proceed with an approach for Cambiaso, they could also seek to include midfielder Frattesi as part of a player-plus-cash offer for their Derby d’Italia rivals according to SportItalia.
There have also been suggestions that Inter could offer Carlos Augusto to Juventus as an alternative to Frattesi.
