Tottenham Hotspur star Pape Matar Sarr praised for his resurgence under Thomas Frank

Tottenham midfielder Pape Matar Sarr is enjoying a brilliant start to the new season. The Senegal international has been deployed in a more advanced role under Thomas Frank, a tweak that has allowed the 23-year-old to showcase a new dimension to his game on a weekly basis. Credit must also go to Thomas Frank for utilising Sarr as a #10 in his system against tough opposition.

It is fair to say that Spurs’ No.29 has quickly become an integral part of Thomas Frank’s setup at N17. The Senegal international is now one of the first names on the team-sheet for the Danish tactician, and he has fully justified his consistent selection with a string of impressive performances.

Matar Sarr also got on the scoresheet against West Ham United earlier this week. The 23-year-old leaped high during a corner, giving Spurs a well-deserved lead in the second half. Not only that, but the Senegalese also played a crucial role in ensuring that the Lilywhites came back with all three points against Manchester City and Burnley in the other two league matches.

Troy Deeney praises Tottenham star Pape Matar Sarr for brilliant performance

Tottenham fans were delighted to see Pape Matar Sarr continue his goal-scoring form as the 23-year-old got on the scoresheet against West Ham United. The Senegal international had already scored in both his country’s international fixtures last week. And he managed to follow that up by striking again for Spurs in the Premier League against the Hammers.

Taking notice of that, Troy Deeney heaped praise on Sarr’s form for his club. Writing for the BBC, Deeney said,

“Under Thomas Frank, Sarr seems to have got a bit more freedom to go forward. He showed high energy and was bursting past people. I know he is young and has more to do, but he seems transformed and is getting better and better.”

Troy Deeney believes that Thomas Frank has given Pape Matar Sarr the freedom to make an impact in the final third of the pitch by venturing forward. The ex-Watford striker pointed out that the Senegalese was beating the West Ham players every time. Deeney also believes that the 23-year-old has taken his game to a new level and seems to be getting better as each game goes by.

Not many Spurs fans will complain about Pape Matar Sarr’s performances this season. The midfielder has looked solid in the middle of the park for the Lilywhites. And it is fair to say that he is thriving in the #10 position for the North London club, finding gaps in the final third of the pitch and being a constant menace.
