Tottenham have not got going in the transfer market despite sorting out the managerial situation at N17

There was a sense of excitement amongst fans around N17 after Tottenham won the Europa League in May. Many fans believed that the historic achievement would prove to be a turning point in the club’s history and the Lilywhites would use the Europa League success as a springboard to kickstart a new era at Hotspur Way.

However, it has been more than month since the North London club ended its trophy-drought, and Daniel Levy has still not managed to bring in new players for next season. The Spurs chairman recently put out a bold statement suggesting that the Lilywhites are aiming to win the Premier League and the Champions League in the coming years.

Well, the time has come for Levy to put the money where his mouth is and back Thomas Frank in the summer. The slow approach taken by the club in the transfer market means that the Lilywhites are already playing catch-up with other teams this summer. Fans believe that the new Spurs manager is already being set up to fail at N17 by the club’s hierarchy.

Tottenham have not yet made a mark in the transfer market

The buzz around N17 has certainly died down as Tottenham are not making any progress in the transfer market. The Lilywhites are missing out on their intended targets every week, and it is believed that Daniel Levy’s incompetence to make good decisions is costing the club big time.

However, Alasdair Gold believes that there is another reason why Spurs have not yet brought in new players. Speaking on his Youtube channel, Gold said,

“Spurs are trying to make deals happen. They’ve just not been able to do it thus far. They are not waiting for PSR deadline to make a move.”

The journalist added,

“Another aspect is Thomas Frank needs to look at some of these players up close and personal first in training, because there’s a lot he’s got to make decisions on. Club trained issues mean that Spurs are going to have to, if they’re bringing in new signings, let a lot of players head out the door.”

Alasdair Gold has suggested that Tottenham are active in the market, but they have just not managed to get any deal over the line yet. The journalist added that Spurs are opting for a slow approach as Thomas Frank needs to look at the squad first and decide the future of some of the key players. Gold also points out that the Lilywhites might need to sell some players to generate funds for new arrivals in the coming weeks.

Daniel Levy needs to get the decisions right in the summer if the North London club wants to build on the Europa League success next season. Thomas Frank has also suggested that he aims to make Spurs ‘serial winners’ in the coming years. And to do that, the Danish tactician will need players that will make an instant impact at N17.
