Juventus will face Al Ain in their opening fixture of the Club World Cup in the early hours of tomorrow, with supporters eager to see how prepared the team is for this important campaign. The Bianconeri share a group with Manchester City, yet the expectation is that they will begin with a strong performance against the UAE champions.
This edition of the Club World Cup features a revamped format, increasing the number of participants to create a more competitive and entertaining tournament. Juventus are appearing in the competition for the first time under its current structure and will be looking to make a deep run.
Bremer’s return remains uncertain
One of the key talking points ahead of the match is the fitness of defender Gleison Bremer. The Brazilian has been sidelined for nearly a year after sustaining an injury at the start of the previous campaign. His long road to recovery has been closely followed by the club’s supporters, with many hoping to see him return to action during this tournament.
Although the defender had expressed optimism about featuring in the Club World Cup, his availability remains in doubt. Juventus manager Igor Tudor has provided clarity on Bremer’s condition as well as that of Federico Gatti, who has also been managing a physical issue.

Tudor gives fitness update on key defenders
The manager said via Il Bianconero, “I don’t think Bremer will be able to play but his recovery allows him to join the team, I’ll be ready for the start of the championship. Gatti is doing well and is finishing the agony he suffered against Genoa. Tomorrow he’ll start from the bench but we’ll see how to use him, he’s important for us”.
These updates suggest that while Bremer’s return is imminent, the club will not take any unnecessary risks with his health. Juventus are prioritising his full recovery in anticipation of the domestic campaign ahead. Gatti, on the other hand, is likely to play a limited role in the upcoming fixture as he continues to regain full sharpness.
Bremer remains a crucial part of the squad, but ensuring his long-term fitness is more important than a rushed return.

‘Plan remains to leave’ – Romano names Liverpool player who could be next to depart after Diaz
Luis Diaz appears to be on his way out of Liverpool, and Fabrizio Romano has named one player who could soon follow him out the door. As reported by the Italian this morning, the Colombia international is due to arrive in Germany today and undergo his medical tomorrow ahead of his impending transfer to Bayern Munich, having been given permission to leave the Reds’ pre-season tour of Asia. He’s not the only forward in Arne Slot’s squad who could be leaving the club soon – as per Calciomercato, four Serie A clubs are lining up a potential move for Federico Chiesa, who didn’t travel with the LFC squad to the Far East. Romano: Chiesa still planning to leave Liverpool On Monday morning, Romano shared an update on the Italian forward, who’s understood to be eyeing an exit from Liverpool due to a lack of game-time on Merseyside last season – he played just 466 minutes in his first year at Anfield. The transfer reporter posted on X: ‘Even after Luis Diaz’s sale, Federico Chiesa’s plan remains to leave Liverpool as he wants to play more. Serie A, still his favourite destination.’ Chiesa’s time at Liverpool could be all too brief The Reds appeared to have struck gold last August when spending just over £10m on a player who starred for Italy when they won the European Championship four years ago, but unfortunately his fortunes have declined since then. The lack of a proper pre-season with Juventus last summer contributed towards a false start to his Liverpool career, and a plethora of fitness issues then prevented him from getting the consistent game-time that he needed at Anfield, with the 27-year-old accuring a mere 14 appearances and a solitary Premier League start. While Diaz leaving out to theoretically open a window of opportunity to Chiesa on Merseyside, the arrival of Hugo Ekitike and ongoing pursuit of Alexander Isak adds further competition for places in Slot’s attack, where Mo Salah is the only man who currently seems guaranteed of a starting berth. Unfortunately for the Italian, our legendary number 11 has the right flank locked down, and his absence from the pre-season tour to Asia has deprived him of what would’ve been an ideal opportunity to stake his claim for more regular action for the Reds. The 27-year-old is a hugely popular figure among the fan base, as evidenced by the gusto and regularity with which his chant is belted out, but it looks increasingly likely that his Liverpool career could amount to just one season – albeit one in which he became a Premier League winner.
Ex-Lakers Big Man Ready to Cut NBA Ties With New Contract
It was the Lakers who, eight years ago, gave center Thomas Bryant his first crack at the NBA, putting him into the lineup after acquiring him in a draft trade with the Jazz. Bryant's Lakers career did not last that long--he was gone after one season--but he came back to L.A. in the summer of 2022 after a successful stint with the Wizards. That go-round with the Lakers did not go much better than the first, as Bryant averaged 12.3 points but was traded away in a massive deal at the 2023 deadline that saw the Lakers add Mo Bamba and Davon Reed. The Lakers had two cracks at Bryant but were not able to get his best from him. Bryant has since moved on to Denver, Miami and most recently, Indiana, where he has not been a big-time scorer, but has filled a role nicely in each of his stops. But, unable to drum up a new NBA contract, it looks like Bryant's next role will come overseas. That's according to a report from Telesport, which noted that the Greek team Panathinaikos is in direct contact about getting Bryant signed. From Sportando, which points out that Jonas Valanciunas agreed to, then backed out of a contract with the team: "The American center, born in 1997, played last season with the Indiana Pacers. He has appeared in 333 NBA games throughout his career. It would be a high-level addition for Panathinaikos, who, after the breakdown of negotiations with Valanciunas, are looking for a center to further raise the quality of their frontcourt."
Biggest surprises after the first week of Steelers training camp include a quarterback on the rise and a changeup in the WR room
There are a lot of things that have to be sorted out during the Pittsburgh Steelers' 2025 training camp. Part of that includes the WR room and what exactly the team has via rookie quarterback Will Howard. Through the first weekend, we have some surprising developments on both fronts... Roman Wilson is taking lots of outside reps When the Steelers are in 11 personnel (one back and one tight end on the field) their three WRs have been relatively predictable: DK Metcalf, Calvin Austin III and Roman Wilson. And on the first day, that was the order with Metcalf and Austin on the outside and Wilson in the slot. But the Steelers spent a good portion of the weekend playing Wilson outside and moving Austin inside. To this point, Robert Woods hasn't been much of a factor at all, and while Wilson is playing a lot outside, Calvin Austin III has been the one making plays from wherever he aligns. Now we obviously can't draw any firm conclusions from four days of unpadded practice, but it's clear that the Steelers are giving Roman Wilson every opportunity to prove he's the team's #2 WR, even if Calvin Austin III is the one who holds the title. Will Howard already making waves? After starting practice in Latrobe as the third team quarterback, Howard worked his way into first team reps with the Steelers in 7v7 on Sunday. He received one of the biggest pops from the crowd of anyone on Saturday, and what few reps he's been afforded, he has run with them. I fully expected Will Howard to surpass Skylar Thompson on the depth chart by the end of camp, but to see him making such a big jump after just days of practice is very encouraging for the rookie. Preseason will be huge for Howard.
Cowboys make questionable move amid Micah Parsons stalemate
The Dallas Cowboys extended one of their stars Sunday, just not the one fans wanted them to pay. At Cowboys training camp Saturday, Dallas fans serenaded owner Jerry Jones with "Pay Micah [Parsons]" chants. The EDGE, of course, is set to play on the fifth-year option of his rookie contract this season. Jones must not have been listening. He gave tight end Jake Ferguson a new contract instead. Dallas and the 26-year-old pass-catcher agreed to a four-year, $52M contract extension, via NFL Media's Ian Rapoport. This move seems head-scratching. Parsons has won the 2021 Defensive Rookie of the Year and earned two first-team All-Pro nods since the Cowboys took him with pick No. 12 in the 2021 NFL Draft. The 26-year-old EDGE also finished second in Defensive Player of the Year voting during the 2021 and 2022 seasons. Ferguson, meanwhile, is solid but not elite. In three seasons with the Cowboys, the 2022 fourth-round pick has made one Pro Bowl and has never finished with more than 761 receiving yards in a season. An extension for Parsons will devour future cap space. The Cowboys may be worried about that after giving quarterback Dak Prescott (four years, $240M) and wide receiver CeeDee Lamb (four years, $136M) long-term deals in 2024. Pittsburgh Steelers EDGE T.J. Watt signed a lucrative three-year, $123M extension on July 17, making him the league's highest-paid non-QB. Parsons could command a similar contract. If cap space is Dallas' primary concern, however, why would it extend Ferguson? He's now set to be the NFL's seventh-highest-paid TE. The Cowboys waited to extend Lamb and Prescott just before the start of the 2024 season. They may be doing the same with Parsons. The star defender has said, "Ownership is always gonna make [contract negotiations] drag out." Regardless, the Cowboys should've paid Parsons before Ferguson. That's a much bigger priority for the team.
