Lautaro Martinez could find his place in the starting line-up when Inter Milan take on Ajax in their opening Champions League game on Wednesday.

According to Sky Sport via FCInterNews, the Argentine forward could lead the line in Amsterdam despite recent injury concerns.

Reports earlier today suggested that Lautaro Martinez could start on the bench.

Indeed, El Toro missed today’s training session due to a back problem.

Furthermore, the same issue forced Cristian Chivu to substitute him off against Juventus.

Ange-Yoan Bonny, who took his place at the Allianz Stadium, was the frontrunner to partner Marcus Thuram in attack.

Indeed, Chivu had reportedly considered fielding the French duo in Lautaro’s absence.

However, there’s still a chance for the 28-year-old to make the starting eleven.

Inter’s decision not to allow the superstar striker to train today could only be a precautionary measure.

Therefore, the former Racing Club ace could captain his team at the Johan Cruyff Arena.

In that case, Bonny will again join Francesco Pio Esposito on the bench.
