Tyrell Malacia will leave Manchester United after playing his last game for the club at the end of the 2025/26 season.

The 26-year-old’s departure was confirmed by Manchester United head coach Michael Carrick after the club’s final home game of the campaign, with the Red Devils boss announcing, “There’s Tyrell [Malacia], who I spoke to the boys about before kick-off. He’s been through a tough time due to injuries. I encourage you to show him your support.”

Malacia was applauded by Old Trafford and handed a special framed shirt as a thanks for his services.

The Dutchman has now taken to X to say his farewells, thanking those who helped him during his stint in England: “Grateful for every moment, every challenge and every memory.

“Thank you to the fans, my teammates, the staff and everyone at the club for the support throughout this journey. It’s been an honour to wear this shirt.

“Wishing the club all the best for the future.”

Tyrell Malacia joined Manchester United in July 2022, but has had his fair share of injury woes in his time at the club. A fourteen-minute cameo against Brighton & Hove Albion on the final day of the season took Malacia to a half-century of games, a nice round number to sign off on.

Malacia’s signing just wasn’t one that worked out, and with Luke Shaw, Patrick Dorgu and Diego León as options on the left side of defence, his contract was not deemed worthy of extension by United.

The 26-year-old now needs to find a club where he will get a good run of games in order to rebuild a career that looked to have so much potential when he moved to Old Trafford in 2022. The ability is clearly there, some fitness just needs to be found for Malacia.
