The Philadelphia Union agreed to a contract extension with defender Jakob Glesnes that will keep the three-time MLS All-Star in the fold through the 2027 season with an option for 2028.
Glesnes, 31, joined the Union in 2020 and was named the Union's first-ever MLS Defender of the Year in 2022. His three All-Star appearances (2022, 2023, 2025) are second most in club history.
"Jakob has been a reliable presence and an essential piece of our backline that has contributed to the team's success, earning well-deserved individual recognition along the way," Union sporting director Ernst Tanner said. "His dedication to our style of play has been vital to the team's success and his emergence as a leader has made a significant impact."
In 24 appearances (23 starts) this season, Glesnes has guided Philadelphia to an MLS-best 25 goals allowed, while scoring one goal with one assist. The native of Norway made his 200th appearance across all competitions with the club in a June 25 match against the Chicago Fire.
