Union Berlin manager Nenad Bjelica was shown a straight red card during his team's Bundesliga game against Bayern Munich on Wednesday.
Bjelica, 52, was dismissed in the 73rd minute after hitting Bayern winger Leroy Sane in the face with the palm of his right hand.
The ugly incident occurred after Bjelica had caught the ball near his dugout.
Sane tried to grab the ball from Bjelica, who reacted by pushing the player's cheek and neck.
Former Manchester City star Sane reacted by shoving Bjelica in his chest, earning a yellow card.

Bayern won the game 1-0 thanks to a goal from Raphael Guerreiro 30 seconds after half-time.
Eric Dier made his Bayern debut as a second-half substitute before fellow Englishman Harry Kane had a goal disallowed by the VAR for offside.
Bayern's victory saw Thomas Tuchel's side move to within four points of Bundesliga leaders Bayer Leverkusen.
Union Berlin remain in 15th place, just above the relegation zone.
