The drama between Christian Pulisic, some current USMNT players, and some former USMNT players continues. The clip of Pulisic and Tim Weah responding to criticism from former USMNT players has caused lots of reactions online.
This has led to one of the former players who criticized Pulisic to respond to the clip taken from PULISIC, the docuseries of Christian Pulisic. That former player is Alexi Lalas, who expressed his thoughts on some of the words said by Pulisic and Weah.
Lalas spoke on his podcast, Alexi Lalas' State of the Union, about Weah's comments on calling former players 'evil' and responded to the Marseille player's statement on players from the past not winning anything.
Weah's words caused debate online between fans and former players, but Lalas shut down comparisons between this current USMNT and the USMNT from the past.
Lalas brings up Landon Donovan as being part of the best USMNT ever and makes a bold response to Weah.
On his podcast, Alexi Lalas questions Weah's words on a former player being 'evil' and on the statement made that the past generation did not win anything. Lalas states that Donovan has done enough for the USMNT than any player of this generation has done.
Alexi Lalas: "We are evil, but you respect us? That makes no sense at all... They said that the guys that are criticizing haven't done anything. Landon Donovan was part of the best U.S. World Cup team in history. Landon Donovan sure as hell has done something and done a hell of a lot more than any of you have ever done with the team."
Lalas wants the USMNT to look good on and off the pitch. Ahead of the 2026 World Cup, Lalas thinks players should earn fans' support with every decision they take.
Alexi Lalas: "You should be doing anything and everything to look good, to get into the good graces of an American public that is dying to love you, is dying to like you, and is dying to support you going on."
Donovan and Tim Howard have yet to publicly react to Pulisic and Weah's words. Other former USMNT players have also not reacted publicly to the words suggesting that previous generations did not win anything.
With the September international break approaching, Pulisic and others will have the opportunity to fully start preparations for the World Cup, which is 300 days away.
