U.S. soccer men's national team star Christian Pulisic is perhaps the most important player for AC Milan these days. Currently, another USMNT player could have been accompanying him on the same team, but his signing fell through.
Back in 2020, Antonee Robinson was close to signing for the Rossoneri club, but in the end, he left Wigan Athletic to sign for Fulham, where he has become a superstar.
In a recent interview with Ben Foster, Robinson, 28, spoke about it and recalled the reasons why he could not join the Serie A giant.
"I think every single time we were on TV, the interview was like, 'yeah, he failed the medical at Milan.' But yeah, I just had like an abnormality in my heart, basically," he began by saying.
When Foster asked him if it was an irregular heartbeat, Robinson said, "Kind of, yeah. So I was having these things called ectopic heartbeats, which are inefficient heartbeats, and I was having too many of them, like, too often."
"So I think the cardiologist I had at the time, he said anywhere from like three to five percent or something like that was normal, and I was around like 15 percent," he added.
Robinson concluded by explaining that in Italy, they are a bit stricter in this regard. "So something that might not show up on an ECG if you do your medical at, you know, a team in England, but then you go up to Italy, they're really stringent on that stuff."
This season, Robinson has had to deal with some injury problems, so he has only played 13 matches in total, considering the Premier League, FA Cup, and Carabao Cup, and has recorded one assist.
In the 2024/25 season, he played 38 matches in total and recorded no fewer than 10 assists, establishing himself as a key offensive piece, despite playing as a left back.
