The United States men’s national team delivered a 5-1 friendly victory over Uruguay that felt like a Fourth of July celebration to close its 2025 schedule.

The party started when Sebastian Berhalter drilled a curled effort past Cristopher Fiermarin in the 17th minute.

Berhalter would then assist Alex Freeman’s headed goal from a corner kick in the 20th minute.

Freeman recorded a brace by weaving through Uruguay’s defense and putting the ball in the onion bag in the 31st minute.

The Americans did not let up as halftime neared. Diego Luna poked in a fourth unanswered goal in the 42nd minute. Uruguay would get on the board moments before the halftime whistle through Giorgian de Arrascaeta’s effort.

The visitors went down to 10 men after Rodrigo Bentancur was sent off for a studs-up challenge in the 64th minute.

Tanner Tessmann would add a fifth goal for the United States. Gio Reyna came on in the 61st minute and delivered an inch-perfect cross that Tessmann headed in. It was Tessmann's first international goal.

Berhalter was awarded Player of the Game honors following the match.

Mauricio Pochettino's men are now undefeated in five straight games. It was the perfect way for the USMNT to close the book on 2025 and excite fans ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
