As the United States Men’s National Team (USMNT) comes off an excellent 4-1 opening win over Panama in the World Cup, the summer transfer window has kicked off across the globe. Many clubs are starting hot in the market, while some are still locking in their plans. USMNT star Christian Pulisic ’s club, AC Milan, finished a disappointing fifth in Serie A last year, causing a complete turnover in the club’s brass. Head coach Massimiliano Allegri was fired after one season. Now, the Italian giants have found his replacement. According to football insider Fabrizio Romano via X, formerly Twitter, ex-Manchester United coach Rubem Amorim will take over at Milan.

“OFFICIAL: AC Milan appoint Rúben Amorim as new head coach,” posted Romano on Tuesday afternoon. “’We’ve been following him for years, and his style of play at Sporting is exactly what we are looking for’, says Gerry Cardinale.”

Before taking over at Old Trafford, Amorim was one of football’s most intriguing managers. He led Sporting CP to two Primeira Liga titles in five and a half seasons, playing an exciting brand of football with his 3-4-3 structure. Unfortunately, the timing of his hiring at Manchester United ultimately led to his style of play not taking hold with the Red Devils. After 14 months at the helm, the Portuguese manager was fired in January.

Now, he’ll take over at the San Siro. Cardinale, Milan’s owner, is determined to get the club back on track after its fifth-place finish. Pulisic looks to be a key figure of Amorim’s plan of attack, as the role of a number ten is something the American star could fill. Last season, Pulisic notched eight goals and four assists, as Allegri didn’t keep the attacker in the rotation regularly. Under Amorim, Pulisic should be able to get back to the form of his first two seasons with the club. Can the American attacker help lead Milan back to glory under Amorim’s guidance starting this fall?
