VfB Stuttgart want to sign Manchester United goalkeeper

VfB Stuttgart are exploring a move for a Manchester United goalkeeper as they search for reinforcements before the 2026/27 season.

The situation immediately raises questions over Altay Bayindir’s future at Old Trafford.

The Turkey international has been linked with an exit throughout the summer after Manchester United completed the signing of Karl Darlow.

Darlow’s arrival has increased competition and could leave Bayindir searching for regular first-team football elsewhere.

However, another goalkeeper has also attracted attention following an impressive loan spell away from Old Trafford.

Senne Lammens, meanwhile, remains Michael Carrick’s first-choice goalkeeper after arriving from Royal Antwerp last summer.

The Belgian enjoyed an outstanding debut campaign and was even voted the Premier League Transfer of the Season.

Although he came under criticism after spilling a shot that led to Spain’s winning goal in Belgium’s World Cup quarter-final defeat, United continue to have complete faith in him.

VfB Stuttgart target United goalkeeper

According to BILD, VfB Stuttgart are interested in signing Manchester United goalkeeper Radek Vitek.

The report states that United are looking to send the 22-year-old out on loan again, making the deal a lower financial risk for the Bundesliga side.

Vitek impressed during his loan spell at Bristol City last season, where he won the club’s Player of the Year award.

His performances also attracted interest from Coventry City, Ipswich Town and Hull City earlier this summer.

The Czech goalkeeper recently admitted he wants to become a regular number one.

Speaking earlier this month, Vitek explained that he feels ready to play every week and is open to either another loan or a permanent move.

With Lammens firmly established as Carrick’s first-choice goalkeeper, opportunities at Old Trafford are expected to remain limited.

A move to Stuttgart could therefore provide Vitek with another valuable season of senior football while continuing his development.

United view the highly-rated goalkeeper as an important long-term prospect, making another loan the most likely outcome rather than a permanent departure.
