Vicario corrects famous Chiellini quote after Tottenham Europa League victory

Guglielmo Vicario has corrected an infamous quote about Tottenham Hotspur made by Juventus legend Giorgio Chiellini, following Spurs’ 1-0 victory over Manchester United in the Europa League final on Wednesday night.

Vicario and Destiny Udogie were both crowned Europa League champions on Wednesday night after a 1-0 win over Manchester United in Bilbao.

In doing so, Tottenham ended a 17-year wait for a trophy, dating back to the League Cup final in 2008. The Europa League final was also Spurs’ first major title in Europe since the 1983-84 UEFA Cup.

Vicario corrects Chiellini: ‘We’ve changed history’

After a long night of celebrations. The Spurs stopper posted a celebratory message to his Instagram profile, quoting Giorgio Chiellini and his famous ‘It’s the history of the Tottenham’ line.

“It’s the history of the Tottenham. X. We’ve changed history,” Vicario wrote on Thursday.

Chiellini delivered the line, which went viral in the UK and beyond, after the 2017-18 Champions League round of 16, when Tottenham had secured a 2-2 draw against the Bianconeri in Turin, only to lose 1-0 on home soil in the return leg.
