Tottenham Hotspur goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario has withdrawn from the latest Italy national team squad over ‘physical’ concerns, which has led CT Luciano Spalletti to call-up Atalanta stopper Marco Carnesecchi in his place.
The FIGC confirmed on Wednesday that Vicario has left the Italy national team camp at Coverciano for unspecified ‘physical reasons’. That means that the 2024-25 season is now over for the Europa League winner, who is expected to return to Tottenham for pre-season training.

This is the first call-up in over a year for the uncapped 24-year-old, who was last part of the Azzurri squad for friendlies against Venezuela and Ecuador in North America in March 2024.
He will join fellow ‘keepers Gianluigi Donnarumma (PSG) and Alex Meret ( Napoli) in the squad for the upcoming World Cup qualifiers against Norway and Moldova on June 6 and June 9 respectively.
