A phone call from Jose Mourinho to Juventus sporting director Cristiano Giuntoli was reportedly the deciding factor in Roma securing a loan deal for teenage defender Dean Huijsen until the end of the season.
According to multiple outlets on Friday morning, the Giallorossi have reached an agreement with the Bianconeri over a straight loan deal for the 18-year-old for the remainder of the 2023-24 campaign.
Mourinho is a fond admirer of Huijsen and was also able to speak to the young Dutchman in-person for a few minutes at the end of Roma’s 1-0 loss at the Allianz Stadium in the final game of 2023. The Special One was picked up by the cameras showing the teenager a moment of love.

Huijsen has just one appearance in Serie A to his name, having made his debut as a second half substitute in a 1-0 victory over Milan in October. He is thought to be ready for senior football, as he had been poised to join Frosinone on loan until Roma came into the equation.
Roma will have Huijsen on board until June and are also set to send 19-year-old Luigi Cherubini in the other direction.
