Tottenham Hotspur attacker Son Heung-min has now cast doubts over his future at the North London club with his recent comments.
When asked if he will continue at Tottenham beyond this summer, the South Korean chose to keep the cards close to his chest and revealed that it would be right to wait and find out what happens regarding his future rather than speculate now.
He said (h/t Metro): “For now, I think it’s right to wait rather than say anything here since my contract remains.
“Many people, including reporters and fans, are very curious. Rather than thinking about the future, I think it’s better to wait and see what happens in my current position.
“No matter where I am, I’m still a player who has always done my best and worked hard, so I think I should do well.”
The 32-year-old has been a top-quality player for Tottenham over the years, and losing him could be a blow for the north London club. Even though he is entering the twilight stages of his career, he could still be a valuable option for Tottenham because of his experience and leadership qualities.
Son has been labelled as a “great player” in the past.
Tottenham are already lacking in depth in the attacking unit, and selling one of their best players will not be a wise decision. He has been linked with clubs in Saudi Arabia recently. It remains to be seen whether any club is willing to come forward with a proposal for him.
Tottenham had a disappointing Premier League campaign last year, and they will look to bounce back strongly. They should keep their best players in order to do well next year.
Son has the quality to improve them in the final third, and he could make a valuable contribution with his goal-scoring ability and creativity. It will be interesting to see where he ends up eventually.
