Antonio Rudiger is not only one of the best centre-backs on the planet – but he’s also a bit of a weirdo.

Rudiger was not in the picture at Stamford Bridge with Frank Lampard at the helm but has proven his worth under Thomas Tuchel.

The German, slotting in at left centre-back, has arguably been the best defender in Europe over the calendar year, being influential in Chelsea’s Champions League triumph.

Rudiger featured for the holders as they faced Malmo in the group stage on Wednesday evening, having his say by winning a second-half penalty that was converted by Jorginho.

It’s not often that the big centre-back provides offensive contributions, but judging by his reaction to the penalty being awarded, he enjoyed it quite a bit.

Have a look at Rudiger’s face as he gets to his feet after winning the penalty. He looks like a man possessed – we certainly won’t be sleeping tonight…
