Argentina's Julian Alvarez scored one of the most beautiful goals of the World Cup on Tuesday with an incredible coast-to-coast run that ended up giving his side a 2-0 lead against Croatia in their semifinal match.
Have a look.

That run started at the complete opposite end of the pitch off a Croatia corner.
Also take a look at the finish at the end of the run. Yeah, there was a good bounce and a little bit of luck, as well as a "comedy of errors" on the backside from Croatia defensively, but that should not take away from what a breathtaking play that ended up being.

That goal also came just five minutes after Lionel Messi gave Argentina the lead on a penalty kick. That goal was Messi's 11th career World Cup goal. Alvarez was the player that drew the penalty to set up that goal, so it was a pretty dominant first half for him.
Croatia has made a habit of coming from behind in this tournament, overcoming deficits in both of its first two knockout round games, but those were only one goal gaps. This is a two goal deficit against an Argentina side that is clicking on all cylinders.
