Watch: Dinamo Zagreb uses unique way of asking Ballon D’or winner Luka Modric to return back to boyhood club
Kirby Lee-USA TODAY Sports

Luka Modric is a legend of the game who has shown how good he is in various leagues like the Premier League and La Liga. Currently at Real Madrid, the midfielder will soon leave as his contract expires at the end of June.

Spending 12 seasons at the Spanish capital, Luka Modric has won every trophy possible to him. He reached his peak in 2018, when he won the Ballon D’or for his performances for both club and country

After those 12 glorious years at Madrid, Modric has finally decided to leave. Once a starter and a key player, he usually finds himself on the bench more often. In the 34 appearances he has had for Los Blancos, 17 of them have come off the bench. He has played for the entire 90 minutes for only 4 matches. Frustrated with this, the midfielder decided to move on.

As the 38-year old begins the search for his next destination, his boyhood club Dinamo Zagreb attempts to get his signature. Modric had played for their youth teams before making his professional debut in 2003. After loan spells with Zrinjski Mostar and Inter Zaprešić, he became a regular starter before leaving for Tottenham Hotspur.

In an attempt to bring him back, club president Mirko Barisic booked out the first page of Marca on their Saturday edition newspaper. On the page, they put a photo of Modric’s name with the number “10,” asking him to return to the club.
