Watch: Fifth-tier English soccer club scores goal from throw-in

Fans of English soccer are well aware of the madness wrought by the FA Cup tournament.

For those unaware, the English Football Association (FA) hosts a yearly tournament where every team from all tiers of the football pyramid participate.

The early rounds of the tournament are currently being played and upsets are quite frequent, akin to college basketball's March Madness.

On Friday, fifth-tier Tamworth F.C. secured a massive 1-0 upset over third-tier side Huddersfield Town A.F.C. from one of the rarest goals possible in the sport.

Tamworth midfielder Tommy Tonks took a shot at a long throw-in, launching the ball like a traditional cross, and he did it so well that Huddersfield goalkeeper Chris Maxwell had to come up to meet it in fear it might be headed into his net.

However, Maxwell's fists ended up redirecting the ball into the goal and sent the crowd into a frenzy.

No player is allowed to score a goal directly from a throw-in, per the rules of the game. Had Maxwell just let the ball be, it probably would've harmlessly entered the net for a no-goal.

The late first-half score was enough to see Tamworth through to the second round of the FA Cup where it awaits its next opponent.
