Watch: Kylian Mbappe last-minute winner leads PSG past Real Madrid

Paris St. Germain and Real Madrid were seconds away from settling for a scoreless tie in the first of their two leg duel in the knockout stage of the UEFA Champions League. PSG forward Kylian Mbappé had other plans, however.

Mbappé, 23, scored in the fourth minute of stoppage time after darting between two Real Madrid defenders and slipping a shot just under the leg of goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois.

According to ESPN Stats and Info, his goal was the latest regulation winner in European Cup knockout stage history.

PSG and Real Madrid earned spots in the Champions League by finishing as runners-up in France's Ligue 1 and Spain's La Liga, respectively. In the group stage, Real Madrid won its group while PSG finished a point behind Manchester City for first in Group A. The second leg between the two teams is set for March 9.
