Watch: Man City star Nathan Ake shows off exquisite piano skills on birthday

Professional footballers are expected to have a certain level of skill when it comes to the business on the pitch. However, there are a few that surprise audiences with ‘secret’ or silenced talents that fail to take center stage as often as we’d expect them to. Manchester City star Nathan Ake celebrated his 29th birthday as he showed off his near-perfect talent to play the piano.

Ake, after the draw against Chelsea on Saturday, didn’t have much to show for as City were exposed at the back on multiple occasions. A late goal from Rodri salvaged a point for the home side as City fell to third spot. As for Ake, his rather ‘muted’ performance was all but forgotten when Manchester City posted a surprising video to celebrate his birthday.

In the viral clip, the Dutch defender effortlessly plays the piano, recreating ‘River Flows in You’. His ‘soothing’ performance was posted on the official Man City account, with fans hailing his ability to do ‘anything’. Many supporters named him as the most elegant member of the squad.

It is no secret that Nathan Ake has close ties with the music community, as he partnered with Casio Music UK to promote ‘Playing for change’, which provides much-needed music access to educational institutions.

Injuries and Chelsea spoil Man City’s ‘symphony’

Manchester City were not in tune to say the least, as Chelsea looked the better of the two sides during their meeting on Saturday. Spurned chances from star man Erling Haaland and a driven Chelsea team forced the home side to drop points on the weekend. To add to the pain, former player Raheem Sterling scored the visitors’ only goal of the game. As the season nears its business end, City are third, behind Arsenal and Liverpool.

That being said, Pep Guardiola will have to figure out how to make do without Jack Grealish and Joško Gvardiol for a while. The £100 million man was forced off the pitch against FC Copenhagen in the Champions League. He also failed to make the squad for the game against Chelsea on Saturday. He has been restricted to just 20 appearances in all competitions this season.

As for Gvardiol, the period for return is much longer than Grealish. An ankle ligament injury has forced Guardiola to make his squad without him for at least three weeks. Even though injuries and an unfavorable position in the league table stack the odds against their favor, no Manchester City side can be written off from the title race at this point in the season. Will City defend their title yet again or will Klopp and co. steal the show? Only time will tell.
