Marco Sportiello was one of the protagonists for AC Milan in their 0-0 draw against Juventus, making several good stops. One in particular stood out, as the goalkeeper found himself on the ground just as the Juve man was lining up a shot.
Mike Maignan was expected to start the game but had to throw in the towel after sustaining an injury during the warm-ups. Sportiello is an experienced goalkeeper in Serie A and was thus comfortable to take the Frenchman’s spot, and it showed.
The former Atalanta man made several good saves, including a Dusan Vlahovic free-kick, but the big ones came at the start of the second half. Filip Kostic got a shot off on the edge of the box and Sportiello did well to parry it towards the side.
However, as Danilo had made a run into the box, he was able to reach the rebound and it looked like a certain goal. Somehow, Sportiello managed to get up just enough to save the shot with his face in the end, helping Milan keep a clean sheet at Allianz Stadium.
How did Sportiello keep this one out?!

Indeed, he showed exactly why Milan opted for him as the deputy for Mike Maignan, arriving on a free transfer from Atalanta.
