The Basque Country team, led by Osasuna coach Jagoba Arrasate, consists of players of Basque origin who also play in the Spanish league. Most of them were born within the boundaries of the so-called Euskadi territory, within Spain. Their last appearance was on November 16, 2020, in a 2-1 victory against Costa Rica.

The Euskadiko Selekzioa is not affiliated with FIFA or UEFA, so they can only play exhibition matches. Although they play sporadically, their last defeat was in 2011 against Tunisia.

Marcelo Bielsa will return to San Mamés after his memorable stint with the Basque team Athletic Bilbao, with whom he reached the final of the UEFA Europa League in the 2011-2012 edition.
