En-Nesyri received a cross in the box and headed it in for the score after goalie Diogo Costa misjudged the play.
Per Oddschecker, Morocco is by far the longest shot to win the World Cup at plus-3300.
Despite leading in possession with 66 percent, Portugal was only able to muster five shot attempts to Morocco's seven in the first half.
The only goal allowed thus far in the World Cup for Morocco was an own goal against Canada on Dec. 1. A one-goal lead is nice for the Moroccans, but they will likely need more to advance. In four World Cup matches, Portugal is averaging three goals per contest, including six against Switzerland in the round of 16.
Cristiano Ronaldo was named a substitute for the match against Morocco and will likely be called into action in the second half. He scored a goal in Portugal's 2022 World Cup opener and came off the bench against Switzerland. This is Ronaldo's fifth World Cup appearance and he has eight career goals at the event.
Portugal could have used a ninth.
