Manchester United superstar striker Wayne Rooney knows a thing or two about top young talents, because he was one of the most exciting young talents in the history of the Premier League as a phenom for Everton before absolutely smashing his highly anticipated blockbuster transfer to Old Trafford.
Rooney is one of the best strikers in Premier League history and the definition of a Manchester United legend, and while he can say some silly stuff about players at other clubs, he’s often spot on about Man United.
And Rooney could never understand why his beloved club didn’t rate youngster Alejandro Garnacho, who emulated Cristiano Ronaldo as a player and also emulated Rooney’s legendary bicycle kick to show off his individual quality.
Garnacho moved to Chelsea this past summer transfer window after Man United let him walk away, as they had concerns about his character and work ethic that have already proven to be unfounded.
Rooney, now a pundit with BBC Sport, absolutely let Manchester United have it with some deserved “I told you so” remarks directed at the Red Devils after another big game from Garnacho for the Blues:
“I said it from the start: Garnacho had the talent and the mentality. I’m not shocked he’s thriving at Chelsea. United let a real talent go, and he’s starting to prove it.
At least Manchester United made some big summer transfers up front in Benjamin Sesko, Matheus Cunha, and Bryan Mbeumo to soften the blow of losing Garnacho, but it still has to hurt to watch him flourish this easily for Chelsea.
