Winning the league in your first season in England – it’s the stuff of dreams, isn’t it?

A feat only six coaches in Premier League history have managed and an achievement which will be immortalised, no matter what happens in the future.

When Arne Slot joined Liverpool last summer, he entered a dynasty crafted by the genius of his predecessor, Jurgen Klopp.

While you’d bite your hand off to manage a stable club like this, particularly ahead of the chaotic mess in Old Trafford, it meant succeeding a man adored by every Red in Merseyside.

This was no easy feat.

Fast forward nine months and Liverpool have run away with the Premier League.

After Klopp notoriously struggled to drag Liverpool over the line in title races against Manchester City, the speed of Slot’s success will surprise many.

But the Dutch coach implemented one crucial element which was pivotal to their triumph.

Arne Slot wouldn’t let Liverpool lose

The importance of psychology in football has never been talked about more and this is something Slot has used to his advantage.

In his final post-match team talk of the season, the Dutch coach spoke about this mentality.

He said: “I think today we showed again why we deserved to win the league.

“We just kept on fighting and we have refused to lose this season.”

This came after Liverpool rescued a point against Crystal Palace at Anfield.

The Reds went 1-0 down in just the ninth minute and then had to play with 10 men after Ryan Gravenberch, who’s been a standout for Liverpool this season, was sent off.

But Mohamed Salah’s equaliser ensured his side lost just four league games all season.

This mentality has also led to Liverpool topping a different kind of ranking.

Slot’s Liverpool have recovered the most points from losing positions in the Premier League

There’s one characteristic which sets apart a good team from a great team – never giving up.

Arne Slot has mastered this in his first season.

This has led to Liverpool earning the comeback king title, alongside Brighton.

The key for Slot is to keep this going and if this season is anything to go by, the Reds are in for another great year.
