Tottenham have seen their opening bid of £55million for Mohammed Kudus being rejected by West Ham United

Tottenham Hotspur are looking to revamp the squad for next season as they prepare for life under Thomas Frank.

The North Londoners are yet to get going in the summer transfer window, regardless of Daniel Levy knowing that they need reinforcements to improve on their last season’s Premier League position. The changes to the squad need to happen quickly though as pre-season is looming large on us.

The club are looking to bring in attacking reinforcements in the summer as the club prepares for life after Son Heung-min. The South Korean icon’s performance levels dipped massively last season, and with him entering the final year of his contract, the Lilywhites’ chief decision-makers, as well as Thomas Frank, are open to cashing him in.

In addition, Richarlison’s future also remains up in the air, while Brennan Johnson could do with some competition on the right flank. This has perhaps led to interest in West Ham United attacker Mohammed Kudus.

As per TBR chief correspondent Graeme Bailey, Mohammed Kudus would really like to join Tottenham this summer. The 24-year-old had a substandard second season with West Ham, and for manager Graham Potter to recruit new players amid PSR problems, the club are open to accepting offers for the left-footed attacker this summer.

Now, according to an exclusive report from Football Insider, West Ham rejected Tottenham’s opening bid for Kudus. An offer of £50million, plus an additional £5m in potential add-ons, was tabled but the Hammers have immediately rebuffed as they clearly want more.

The Ghanaian international has an £85 million release clause in his contract that is said to be valid until July 10, but Spurs are optimistic about securing a deal for well below that hefty price. The Irons want around £60 million for Kudus, who still has three years remaining on his contract.

Knowing West Ham’s valuation for the player, Daniel Levy must stop dillydallying and get close to the £60 million mark to get Kudus in before the pre-season begins. Both Newcastle United and Chelsea have also shown an interest in the African star as well, so Tottenham cannot afford to waste more time and let one of their top targets snapped away right under their noses.

Signing a player of the ex-Ajax ace’s quality and potential would be a massive boost for Tottenham, giving Frank a versatile option in attack. Due to his flexibility to operate in various positions in the front line and as a No.10, Kudus is exactly the kind of signing the North Londoners require to make a statement across the division.
