Manchester United are expected to confirm the signing of Bryan Mbeumo soon, following a lengthy negotiation process with Brentford.
The deal, which has been in the works for over a month, was agreed this week for £71 million. The 25-year-old will become United’s third signing of the summer once everything is finalised.

Ruben Amorim had hoped to have Mbeumo on board before the team’s tour of the US, and it now looks likely that he’ll be available to join up with the squad ahead of their trip.
Mbeumo is scheduled to have his medical on Saturday before signing a contract that will keep him at Old Trafford until 2030.
Following Matheus Cunha through the door, Mbeumo adds another option to Amorim’s attack. But Rio Ferdinand thinks his impact will go beyond just adding goals to the team.
Even before the deal was finalised, Ferdinand had been pushing for United to bring in Mbeumo, saying he’d fit right into Amorim’s plans.
The former defender has long been a fan of Mbeumo, describing him as both “dynamic” and “aggressive” during his time at Brentford.
During an episode of his podcast Rio Ferdinand Presents, he also mentioned hearing positive things about Mbeumo’s professionalism and commitment.
“I know a couple of guys who have trained with him in the season, outside of the club, and said that his attention to detail, his work ethic, how he takes care of himself – it’s at the highest order,” Ferdinand said.
“They’re the type of people you want in the training ground as well. But that’s a culture, bringing that into this environment, those good traits and good habits he’s got can only bode well for the group.”
“You hope that it’s something that feeds off into others if some aren’t doing it.”
Plenty of high-profile signings have struggled with the pressure that comes with playing for Manchester United, and now Mbeumo will have to show he can handle it.
After a disappointing campaign last year, there’s a lot riding on the 2025/26 season for both Amorim and the club. Expectations will be high for Mbeumo and Cunha to make an immediate impact.
This summer, Amorim has focused on bringing in players who already know their way around the Premier League. Mbeumo will be looking to carry over the form he showed last season when he scored 20 league goals.
Early in his time at United, Amorim hasn’t hesitated to move players out of the squad if he feels they aren’t helping the team environment. Five players have already been removed from training to keep pre-season preparations on track.
Amorim needs players he can rely on as he looks to rebuild this squad, and Mbeumo appears ready to set a strong example at Carrington right from the start.
