Armando Broja has completed his loan to Fulham. The deal wasn’t confirmed until after midnight, but earlier in the evening Jacob Steinberg had some details about the setup of the deal.

We had heard that Chelsea wanted a £5m loan fee, but instead they’ve incentivised Fulham to use the on loan striker. The Whites will cover his wages, but won’t pay a fee, so long as Broja appears in half of their remaining games.

The loan fee itself is just £750k, far lower than was asked for, but including his salary, Steinberg points out the total is £4m. Chelsea are clearly hoping that Broja plays, scores lots of goals, boots his value and can then depart in the summer. Strangely, it creates a situation where they don’t want the £750k loan fee as a sort of consolation prize if Broja can’t get into the team for whatever reason.

They’ve got a decent side and Broja just needs some time on the pitch – we think this move could work out well.
