Gigio Donnarumma admits he couldn’t ‘fully enjoy’ the Champions League victory with PSG as he achieved it against ‘brothers’ playing for Inter.
Donnarumma spoke at a press conference at Coverciano on Wednesday.
He’s a fresh European winner with PSG, and he reunited with Inter stars Nicolò Barella, Alessandro Bastoni, Davide Frattesi and Federico Dimarco while on international duty with the Azzurri.
A reporter asked how Nerazzurri players welcomed him at Coverciano and whether he had told them anything about the 5-0 trashing in the Champions League Final.
“I didn’t say anything,” admitted Donnarumma.
“There was a heartfelt hug with my teammates after the match. I was very happy about it. The truth is that I struggled to fully enjoy the Champions League victory because on the other side, there were brothers I’ve always fought alongside.
“There was a beautiful embrace with them at the end of the game. Something truly special that meant a lot to me. We haven’t talked about it here, not even a single joke. The only thing we’ve focused on is the strength we need to bring into these two matches to give everything together.”
Ironically, Donnarumma’s agent was spotted at Inter’s headquarters on Wednesday, but it’s not believed that he discussed the Azzurri captain.
In any case, Donnarumma said he was happy in Paris and that his primary option was to extend his contract with the Ligue 1 giants.
Donnarumma’s agent Enzo Raiola remains in talks over a new deal with PSG, given that the goalkeeper’s contract runs out in June 2026.
