Why Is Mohamed Salah Not Playing Tonight for Liverpool vs PSG?

Liverpool will be playing away from home at the Parc des Princes against PSG tonight for the first leg of the Champions League quarterfinal.

Liverpool will be the first leg tonight in Paris, France, and the seocnd leg will be next week at Anfield in Liverpool, England. The Reds will look to get a positive result tonight before the return leg, but they will do it without Mohamed Slaah from the start.

Mohamed Salah is not starting for Liverpool tonight, with Hugo Ekitike starting, with Florian Wirtz potentially playing on the left side and Jeremie Frimpong playing on the right side, to replace Salah.

Salah played in Liverpool's previous match, which was against Manchester City in the FA Cup quarterfinal.

Liverpool lost 4-0 over the weekend and were knocked out of the FA Cup. Salah started the match and missed a penalty kick. He was taken off in the 77th minute and was replaced by Federico Chiesa.

Mohamed Salah on Liverpool Bench vs PSG

Mohamed Salah is not injured and is on the Liverpool bench for the match against PSG tonight.

Liverpool manager Arne Slot will likely play Salah in the second half against PSG, and it will be the first game Salah does not start for the Reds since the Premier League match against Spurs last month.

Salah came on the pitch against Spurs in the 64th minute, replacing Rio Ngumoha. Salah's last Champions League appearance was against Galatasaray in the second leg of the UCL Round of 16 at Anfield, where he scored and provided an assist.
