Why Man Utd loanee Marcus Rashford caught the eye in his first El Clasico appearance

In his debut El Clasico, Manchester United loanee Marcus Rashford made a significant impact for Barcelona.

Rashford played on the left wing for Hansi Flick’s side, joining Fermin Lopez, Ferran Torres, and Lamine Yamal in a front four packed with energy.

Real Madrid also had plenty of talent across their line-up, including Alvaro Fernandez, who played with the British winger back at Manchester United.

Rashford picked up another assist for Barcelona, setting up Lopez to level the score after Kylian Mbappe put Real Madrid ahead.

The winger remained calm and found the Spaniard, bringing his season tally to seven assists and ten total goal involvements so far.

However, it was not enough for Flick’s side, as Jude Bellingham found the net before half-time and gave Xabi Alonso’s men a 2-1 win.

Rashford’s compatriot Trent Alexander-Arnold also missed out on his first taste of the famous fixture, with the former Liverpool man remaining on the bench throughout.

The match ended in chaotic scenes, with several cards shown and Pedri sent off for the visitors.

The United academy product played all 99 minutes at the Bernabeu, remaining a constant threat and creating the most chances in the match (4).
