Paris Saint-Germain are facing Borussia Dortmund in their UEFA Champions League semifinal tie. One pundit doesn’t only believe that the Parisians will advance past the German side but they’ll also defeat either Bayern Munich or Real Madrid in the final.

Before the first leg match between PSG and Dortmund, former Manchester United footballer Rio Ferdinand spoke about the Parisians’ chances to win the entire competition.

Ferdinand sees this as the capital club’s year to lift the trophy that has long eluded them, especially since the Qatar Sports Investment ownership takeover in 2011. Nonetheless, the TNT Sports pundit notes one reason PSG could be lifting the trophy next month.

“It’s just a Kylian Mbappé effect,” Ferdinand said on the pregame broadcast. ” I just think that some people that have just been blessed by somebody above, maybe, that the fortune just comes your way at great times in your career. It just seems like he’s been the chosen one since he was born, almost. He’s been breaking records, countless records.

“But they’ve got a tough game tonight. Dortmund are a good team. In this competition, they’ve been a very good team, hard to play against, and they won’t make it easy. But this is somebody who has done it at a top level. World Cup final, scores a hat-trick didn’t win it, but knows how to perform in the big clutch moments.”

The first leg between Real Madrid and Bayern Munich ended in a 2-2 draw at Allianz Arena. Now, the scene shifts to the Spanish capital for the final 90 minutes of the tie.

After the draw, Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti spoke postgame and noted his preferences for the potential final at Wembley Stadium should his squad advance past Bayern Munich.

Real Madrid vs. PSG Final? I’d sign up for it right now,” Ancelotti said.
