Fans waiting to watch Cristiano Ronaldo today after he announced his international retirement will have to wait as Al-Nassr’s match scheduled for today has been postponed.

Ange Postecoglou’s side were supposed to travel to Al-Hazem for a Saudi Pro League fixture as they looked to continue their six match winning streak.

Why Was Al-Nassr vs. Al-Hazem Postponed?

This is the third time that an Al-Nassr match has been postponed in recent weeks. The last fixture that suffered the same fate was the AFC Champions League match against Al-Wasl which the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) postponed after Al Wasl’s delegation was unable to travel to Riyadh amid regional security concerns and flight disruptions.

Regarding today’s match against Al-Hazem, the decision comes as the Saudi Pro League announced the postponement of all Matchweek 13 fixtures following AFC’s decision to shift the 2027 Asian Cup to December 2027.

“The decision comes as part of a wider review of the 2026-27 fixture schedule, with the revised Asian Cup dates creating additional flexibility in the domestic football calendar,” the league said in a statement.

It also planned to focus on redistribution of fixtures to ensure recovery periods for teams.

“The review will focus on achieving a more balanced distribution of fixtures across the remainder of the season, while ensuring adequate rest and recovery periods for players.”

“As part of the process, the SPL will hold a workshop with RSL clubs to discuss the proposed calendar adjustments and gather feedback before finalizing the revised schedule,” the statement read.

This delay, unfortunately for fans, will also put a slight delay on Cristiano Ronaldo reaching the 1000 goal milestone as the forward will not be featuring in Portugal’s UEFA Nations League matches following his retirement.

The 41-year-old is currently just 15 goals away from the landmark and he will next feature on November 20 against Al-Qadsiah.
