Eberechi Eze is yet to start a Premier League match for Arsenal this season as he struggles to establish himself. His lack of starts is notable given the important role he played in helping the Gunners win the title last season.

Eze remains an important player for Arsenal and will be eager to demonstrate his quality whenever he gets the opportunity. However, he needs more time on the pitch to show what he can contribute and strengthen his position in Mikel Arteta’s plans.

Arsenal did not sign another left winger following Gabriel Martinelli’s late departure, leaving Eze expected to provide an alternative to Christos Tzolis. Recent team selections suggest he may have slipped further down the pecking order.

Madueke gets the opportunity on the wing

When Tzolis missed Arsenal’s match against Leeds United over the weekend, the club turned to Noni Madueke rather than Eze. Arteta felt the former Chelsea player was the right fit, and Madueke delivered a strong performance.

That decision could leave Eze concerned about his place in the squad. According to Football Insider, the midfielder is now worried about his role at Arsenal as he waits for an opportunity to establish himself.

Eze’s situation is complicated by competition for places. Although he has shown his ability, he must convince Arteta that he deserves a regular place in the starting line-up.

Midfield competition adds to Eze’s challenge

Eze could also struggle to secure opportunities in midfield. Myles Lewis-Skelly has been performing well in that area, while the arrival of Bruno Guimaraes adds another option and increases competition.

With several players competing for limited starting positions, Eze may have to be patient and make the most of any minutes he receives. His versatility could offer Arteta useful options, but it does not guarantee him a consistent role.

For now, Eze remains a curious case at Arsenal. Despite his contribution to last season’s title success, he has yet to start a Premier League match this campaign. Unless he earns more opportunities, questions about his place in Arteta’s plans are likely to continue.
