Could Manchester City look to add to their depth at full-back this summer? While Pep Guardiola’s squad are focused on their treble defence the world champions will likely be busy in the summer as they bid to strengthen their squad. One of the areas they could focus on is strengthening at the full-back position.

As it stands currently the only full-back who consistently features for the world champions is Kyle Walker. He has long been preferred at right-back by Pep Guardiola. When he is rested or unavailable that position is usually filled by Manuel Akanji or John Stones. While they both are capable in the role they aren’t specialist full-backs. It is the same story at left-back for Manchester City. Josko Gvardiol and Nathan Ake are Pep Guardiola’s preferred options for the position. Sergio Gomez is another option but given he is typically used sparingly in the role.

Full-back has long been a position of need for the treble winners. It could be a position they look to strengthen this summer and a recent report has linked City with a move for Fenerbahce full-back Ferdi Kadioglu.

Turkish publication Fotomac reports that Manchester City are keen on adding the Fenerbahce full-back to their ranks. Furthermore, Fotomac reports that Pep Guardiola wants Kadioglu in his first-team squad next season.

Ferdi Kadioglu does appear to have the attributes to make it at Manchester City. While he primarily plays at left-back for Fenerbahce he can also play at right-back or on a wing. With his versatility, he could provide cover at both full-back positions for the champions.

It remains to be seen if Kadioglu is a concrete option for Manchester City. He does have certain attributes that could be of use to Pep Guardiola’s squad if a move did eventuate.
