Will Manchester City’s galaxy of stars up front shine against Chelsea?
Green Bay Press Gazette-USA TODAY Sports

Can Manchester City’s galaxy of stars up front take advantage of Chelsea’s depleted defensive stocks later today? If they can the visitors may be in for a torrid time at the Etihad Stadium in today’s crucial Premier League clash.

Mauricio Pochettino’s side will head into today’s game at the Etihad with somewhat of an injury crisis in defence. They will have to face the world champions without the services of Thiago Silva, Benoit Badiashile, Marc Cucurella, Wesley Fofana and Reece James who will all miss the game due to injury. Whoever lines up in defence for Chelsea will have Manchester City’s galaxy of stars up front waiting for them.

The goals have flowed across City’s winning streak

Pep Guardiola’s side are currently in a rich vein of form. They’ve won 11 consecutive games in all competitions and the goals have flowed for City during their winning run. On top of that the intricacies of City’s attacking play have returned as the world champions have begun to string together the wins. They have scored 32 goals in their 11-game winning run and look a handful for any defence in world football let alone one hit by so many injuries.

Up front, Erling Haaland returned to goal-scoring form with a fine brace against Everton last weekend. City’s number 9 looks back to his lethal best. Kevin De Bruyne, Phil Foden and Bernardo Silva tore FC Copenhagen to shreds in City’s win at the Parken Stadium. The trio are in sparkling form currently and will be keen to impress again later today. If Bernardo Silva doesn’t make the starting lineup due to an ankle knock he suffered against FC Copenhagen Julian Alvarez and Jeremy Doku wait in the wings. City are stacked with options in the final third to take on a short-handed Chelsea defence.

Chelsea’s depleted defence has a task on their hands against City’s galaxy of stars up front. That battle could decide today’s game if City’s stars fire at the Etihad.
