Wolves close to re-signing Doherty

Premier League side Wolves appear to be inching closer to re-signing defender Matt Doherty.

The right-back is set for a return to the Molineux Stadium, where he enjoyed his best Premier League years.

Per the Express and Star, talks are progressing with the wing-back, who is leaving Atletico Madrid after six months.

The 31-year-old first left Wolves in 2020 when he signed for Tottenham, but failed to impress in North London.

Since Jonny Castro Otto is now leaving Wolves, Doherty will take his place in the squad.

The Republic of Ireland star will likely challenge Nelsen Semedo for a starting spot.
