The sports entertainment company has made a concerted effort to satisfy its global audience over the past few years. Since 2022, WWE has hosted PLEs in international cities such as Cardiff, Glasgow, London, Lyon, Berlin, Perth, and San Juan. This is in addition to their regular trips to the Saudi Arabian cities of Riyadh and Jeddah.
With the roaring success of Backlash in Lyon last year, WWE is returning to France for Clash in Paris on August 31 at Paris La Defense Arena. The partnership with PSG is an opportunity for WWE to increase its foothold in France.
Football is the biggest sport in the world, and PSG is currently one of the best teams in the world. The Parisian Club won their first-ever UEFA Champions League title last season after a dominant 5-nil victory over Inter Milan. They also reached the inaugural FIFA Club World Cup final; however, they suffered a shock 3-nil defeat to Chelsea at MetLife Stadium in July.
The French club had undergone a major transformation since its Qatari takeover in 2011. Under the stewardship of Club President Nasser Al-Khelaifi, PSG has grown to become one of the most valuable sporting institutions in the world.
Their partnership with WWE should not come as a surprise, given their trend-setting tendencies. PSG is a fashion pioneer, as exemplified by their Jordan brand partnership that they established in 2018. They recently collaborated on merchandise with K-pop juggernauts BLACKPINK.

In March 2025, WWE released exclusive Legacy Championship Titles with numerous football clubs. This collaboration with PSG may be the first of many sporting partnerships for the WWE.
