Yamal skyrockets to 180 million value after Champions League breakout

On August 17 2023 Yamal was priced at $27 on the website transfer markt which tracks all soccer players current market value. He’s now priced at $180m - an almost 700% rise in under 2 years.

Surprisingly though, he lies only third on the list of the world's most valuable players, behind Manchester City's Erling Haaland and Real Madrid's Vinicius Jr, both at $200m, both 24. 

For context, Kylian Mbappé sits in fifth place at $170m; America's most expensive player is AC Milan's Christian Pulisic at $50m.

It’s hard to argue with the evaluation of the top two. Haaland's goals per game ratio at every level that he’s played is simply incredible. He has 84 goals in 94 appearances in the EPL. Vinicius Jr is a terrifying phenom of pace, power and precision. And they are both young.

But not as young as Yamal. At seventeen years young, the potential is terrifying. If he's playing like this now, imagine how good he'll be by the time he reaches his peak, which most experts agree is around 25-27 years old.

There's room for improvement; to learn from his mistakes; make better decisions; and maximize his talent. Repeat. He's 17. He can already do things that no one else can. And he’s ten years from peaking!

That's led some on social media to claim that his true value is $500m. A bit hyperbolic perhaps. But not by much.
